Treating Mental Health




Our nation’s mental health crisis continues to grow, directly affecting more and more individuals and their families every year. And when they need help, they frequently turn to emergency departments. 

That’s not a sustainable solution. It’s also not an effective one. Often, emergency departments can provide stop-gap solutions but not much in the way of follow-up care, and sometimes the experience of sitting for long periods of time in the frenzied hospital environment can make matters worse for some patients, according a study by Frontiers in Psychiatry⁠

. And, adding insult to injury, the end result of waiting in this environment is often an expensive inpatient admission.
